Hampi - Badami Heritage Tour

Hampi, a village and a temple town in Karnataka is one of the most historically rich places. Listed under the UNESCO World Heritage Site as the Group of monuments at Hampi, this city was also at one point one of the richest cities in the world when it was in its peak. Located inside the Vijayanagara city, Hampi has been one of the most significant tourist places of attractions. People from all over the country visit Hampi for its beautiful monuments and history. Badami is truly famous for its Cave Temples that date back to the 6th and 7th centuries. Located at Badami in Bagalkot district of Karnataka, Cave Temples represent the fine architectural style of ancient times. Badami is acknowledged for being the ancient kingdom of Chalukyas. In the 6th century, Badami was established by Pulakesin I; however, the architectural expansion was observed by the Chalukyas. The sect constructed numerous temples and monuments, marking the instigation of the Hindu architectural style. Badami Cave Temple is the best example of Chalukyan style of architecture. Made out of Sandstone hills, Badami Cave Temples boast of rock-cut architecture.

Early Morning Move Pune to Vijaypura
Arrive to Vijaypura and explore Golghumat and Museum
then proceed to Badami overnight stay at Badami.

Badami was founded by Pulakesin I and was the capital of the
Chalukyas, refecting the art of Chalukyas in style, grace and
strength. One of the main highlights of this city is the natural
gorge embellished with temples and gateways, leading to
the city. Badami is famous for its artificial lake, ancient
temples and museum. The main attraction of Badami are the
caves which are carved out of sand stone on the top of the hill
and belongs to the 6th century AD.

Lord Shiva. The temples contain elements of both South
Indian (Dravidian) and North Indian (Nagara) styles of

Heralded as the ‘cradle of Hindu/ Dravidian temple
architecture’, Aihole is a tranquil village on the banks of
Malaprabha River. Durga temple is the primary attraction in
Aihole and most spectacular representations of Aihole
temples. Durga temple complex houses an archaeological
museum and art gallery. Ladkhan temple showcases
iconography from Shaiva, Vaishnava and Shakti traditions of
Hinduism.

Classifed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, this historic
town is also the “World’s Largest Open-air Museum” and
covers an area of nearly 29 sq km. Most of the important
structures and ruins are located in two areas, which are
generally referred to as the Royal Centre and the Sacred
Centre. The Royal Centre in the south-west part of the site
contains structures that seem to have been palaces, baths,
pavilions, royal stables and temples for ceremonial use. The
Sacred Centre stretches around the Virupaksha Temple and
the Hampi Bazaar area and is along the banks of the holy
Tungabhadra River.
